The Church of God is represented in 169 countries with over 35,000 congregations around the globe. As of January 2004, our membership and adherents number well over 6,000,000.
The work of the Church of God in Europe is structured into two administrative regions, both of which include countries that are geographically outside the scope of Europe. Additionally, the Church of God is developing pioneer works in various countries which are not represented in this list. One division includes the territory of Central and Eastern Europe and the Commonwealth of Independent States. The other division comprises the countries of Western Europe and the Mediterranean.
The earliest work of the Church of God in Europe dates back to the 1930s in the countries of Bulgaria, Germany and Romania, which still have the strongest membership in Central and Eastern Europe to date. Since the fall of communism, the church has experience much growth in the former Soviet Union. In Western Europe, the work of the Church of God started in the mid-1950s in the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland.
